1976 MGB GT V8
Chrome bumper conversion;
genuine factory V8; owned for the last four years; walnut dash; a great
little sports car
This respectable MGB
started life in 1976 with rubber bumpers, a sunroof, striking primrose yellow
paintwork and of course the rumbling V8 under the bonnet. Fortunately, at least
one of these features still remains and is implied in the way of the subtle
badges to the wings and radiator - the V8 engine.
There is little early
history but there are plenty of bills on file from the
1990s which include new doors, new carpets, a new exhaust system, bonnet, floor
pans and the repaint to Old English White. It is assumed that the bumpers were
also done at this time - a considerable amount of additional work having
been carried out including removal and refitting of the engine and
gearbox and multiple other parts replaced or improved. Its
glass sunroof has also been replaced by a much nicer full-length Britax/Webasto.
The body paint is
starting to show some wear in the joins and sills but nothing too serious. The
last MOT had no corrosion issues and runs until August 2021, the only advisory
being a faulty hazard switch. Regularly MOTd and kept on the road,
this popular variant of the B packs a V8 punch under the bonnet and is ready to
drive away.
