1978 MGB GT V8

Built around a new Heritage shell; Rover V8 with Edelbrock intake manifold and Weber 500 carb; Quaife limited slip diff; uprated brakes and suspension; only 1,500 miles from build; sounds wonderful!

Built in 2016/17 by a specialist, this impressive MGB GT V8 should catch your attention if you are looking for a rust-free, properly built and properly fast GT V8. The full spec is too detailed to list in full here but is amply covered in dozens of invoices on file.
While this is not a factory car, it has a far superior spec and demonstrates the driving thrills to be gained by sticking a well-prepared V8 into an MGB body – petrolheads will love it!
Built around a new British Motor Heritage shell, waxoil treated and undersealed to ensure it is well preserved into the future, it is powered by a very healthy Rover SD1 V8 engine and 5-speed gearbox with many upgrades throughout. The engine has dollops of extra poke thanks to an Edelbrock Performer intake manifold and air-box mated to a Weber 500 carburettor and an uprated fuel pump. New parts abound including the radiator, electric fan, prop shaft, carburettor, starter motor and water pump.
To cope with the extra performance, it has ventilated front discs and a brake servo, GAZ adjustable shock absorbers, uprated front and rear springs, ¾ inch anti-roll bar with new king pins, stub axle, spring pans, wishbone arms, poly bushed track rod ends and drop links. A Quaife limited slip differential is also fitted along with 15-inch Minilite-style wheels and new tyres all round.
Mechanically it is in fine fettle: the engine starts on the button and runs smoothly, delivering the legendary Rover V8 power and torque without fuss and giving a fabulously fruity exhaust note through a stainless steel sports exhaust system.
The exterior is finished in deep gloss black and is rust-free, with new front and rear chrome bumpers recently fitted. The interior is smart and tidy with new door cards and seat covers in the recent past and nice black carpets throughout, including the rear load area.
Since the build was completed the car has only covered 1,575 miles so it is barely run-in yet and has an MOT until 26th June 2021 with no advisories recorded. Starting promptly and running beautifully as we have moved it around on site, with good 50psi oil pressure, it responds instantly to every blip on the throttle with an addictively naughty V8 rumble.
