1985 BRA CU3
No Reserve
Quirky 2CV
based three wheeler; 'More comfortable than sleeping with Dolly Parton'
according to the brochure; well constructed example with tonneau cover; rigid
tow system to tow behind your camper; noisy and great fun to
drive
BRA stands for Beribo Replica Automobiles if you were
wondering? Their brochure certainly points to a sense of humour. As usual, this
CV3 is powered by a Citroen 2CV flat twin air-cooled 602cc engine, which
produces power to the front wheels. The body is sheet aluminium attached to a
16swg steel tubing chassis and it is supposed to have a top speed of 75 mph
– a feeling of considerable speed when so close to the road.
The documentation includes the original invoice from BRA
in October 1998 for the kit at a price of £1750.50. There are a series of
articles and build manuals included together with various MOTs dating between
1999 to the current one to August 2022 which shows an advisory of a slight oil
leak. The registration number shows an insurance Cat C register in 1997, which
was most likely the donor vehicle for the 1998 BRA kit build.
There are
some useful spares and the vendor had commissioned a rigid tow system so it
could be hooked up behind his camper and used locally when he got to his
destination.
Only on offer due to emmigration to the US, it looks time
for some good hairy fun! It does make quite a lot of noise thanks to its
straight-though pipes.
