1993 Mercedes-Benz 320CE Cabriolet
(W124)
Complete with ultra-rare factory supplied
Wiesmann hard-top; sensible mileage example with loads of service
history and recent expenditure; driven from Kent to the sale
Sold
new to an industrial supply company (PCT Group Sales Ltd) in Glasgow in August
1993, they were to remain its registered keeper for the next seven
years. A change of keeper in 2000 transfered ownership to one of the
company directors - quite possibly the person who had been using the car all
along, and multiple bills on file confirm that PCT continued to be invoiced for
its regular maintenance and service.
Although the service book is absent,
a complete set of invoices and service history from this period is on
file, with no fewer than 19 services recorded to 2014 by which time the car
had covered 85,000 miles - effectively all in the hands of the same
owner.
It was sold in 2014 to a gentleman from Stone in
Staffordshire through Cheshire Classic Benz for £17,850. He had the car
serviced and maintained by Merx Independent Mercedes Ltd - with bills on file
confirming the work done during this period.
In 2017, it
changed hands again, this time through Jeremy Wade of Market Drayton for £12,000
with some 104,000 miles showing, our vendor acquiring it earlier this
year....which makes four former keepers on the V5C, although we suspect that two
of them were effectively the same person.
He has recently submitted it
for an MOT, which shows two minor advisories for slightly worn suspension arm
pins. This expires in September 2022. The car was also fully serviced with
filters, plugs, antifreeze and oils and has now covered some 104,900 miles to
date.
The car is badged Sportline, which suggests slightly lower and
firmer suspension and it comes with an extremely rare Wiesmann hard-top,
beautifully trimmed inside and light enough for two people to remove easily. The
power hood works as it should and the hood cover is in good condition, with just
two very minor wear marks on the sides - barely noticeable. The leather interior
is also in very good order.
Driven over 150 miles to the sale, this
top-spec W124 Cabriolet is a rare beast, especially so with its desirable
factory-supplied hard top which is so elegant and easy to
use.
