1988 Range Rover Classic
3.5 V8 equipped
example with much useful recent works; scope for further improvement with this
Classic Rangie
Dating from August 1988 this Range
Rover Classic features the popular 3.5 litre fuel injected Rover V8 engine
driving all 4-wheels via typical automatic transmission and is finished in
Silver with light grey cloth trim and walnut veneer.
This truck has been
a labour of love with our vendor who has owned it for a couple of years and
poured time, effort, and money into it. The underside looks good and well
protected with black underbody protection and the bodywork straight enough, but
needing some minor cosmetics here and there as pictured along with the alloy
wheels which would no doubt benefit from a refurb.
On the inside,
the Rangie shows signs of age/use with a rip to the driver’s seat cover and
no headlining (it has sagged as they all do and was duly removed) – however with
all the bits readily available online, the interior could be transformed with
some more work. Its mileage reads an indicated 116,519 miles.
The
truck starts, runs and drives and was driven some 70 miles to the sale –
however, despite having an MOT we did note it did not run as smoothly as it
should and had a soft brake pedal – thus we would recommend collection by
truck/trailer and a thorough check over before any real road use. In addition,
the headlights seem to remain on so the battery has to be disconected when not
in use.
The history file includes the V5C showing 12 former keepers, 1
old MOT and invoice print-out detailing the £2,742 spent by our vendor on
recommissioning works during his tenure including a new heavy duty fuel tank,
fuel pump, battery, brake pipes, discs, pads, shockers, steering box, belts,
headlight and welding works. In addition, we have a VOSA MOT history print-out
and current MOT valid until December 2022 which recorded 5 advisories for the
brake pedal action, corrosion to the OS & NS inner front wheel arch, exhaust
blow, underside covered in underseal and handbrake.
We also note a slight
mileage discrepancy on the current MOT where the mileage looks to have been
noted incorrectly at 118,770 miles – the car currently showing 116,519 miles as
mentioned. We also note from its MOT history, the car appears to have been off
the road without test from 2008 until the recent MOT this
November.
