1987 Mercedes-Benz 280TE (W123)

Bought new by our vendor's uncle in Holland; well-loved example showing just 98,898 miles; 7-seater version

Purchased new by our vendor’s late Uncle in the Netherlands (the car is RHD) in 1987 and later registered in the UK in November 1987 this classically elegant and late model S123 series estate comes to us in desirable 280TE guise.

Finished in Lapis Blue with blue fabric interior the car has seen little recent use and has been with our vendor (the original owner’s nephew) for the last 24 years. The spec (when new) includes a mechanical sunroof, cruise control, central locking, front arm rest, electric windows, heated and tinted glass, headlamp washers, luggage cover, split rear seats and rear child seats giving seating for 7.

Under the bonnet, we find the proven 2.8 litre M110 E28 six-cylinder petrol engine which develops 182Bhp and 240NM of torque driving the rear wheels via automatic transmission and was 1 of just 19,288 280TE’s built out of 199,517 W123 series estates models.

This tidy old estate looks to have covered just under 99,000 miles from new which we believe to be correct given its sole family ownership, condition and MOT history online which dates back to 2006 at 92,031 miles – the vendor using the car infrequently with an annual test every year until 2015 when it was put into storage until just recently when it was pulled out and MOT’d passing with no advisories and brought to us for sale due to lack of use.

The history file includes only the V5C, current MOT and copy original Dutch spec list with English translations.

Presenting well, this is an unusual opportunity to bag a lower mileage (most have done well over 150k and can often be seen with 400k on the clock) low owner example from the very end of the W123 series production which ended officially in 1986, so this really is a late model example and will no doubt appeal to many of our classic Mercedes enthusiasts!
