1988 Land Rover 110
V8 County Station Wagon
One lady owner and 135,300 miles
from new
This original V8 110 was ordered in March 1988 from Land
Rover specialists, Droitwich Garage Ltd. The invoice shows our lady vendor as
the initial purchaser, who has owned it ever since, covering 135,321 miles.
Specifically bought as a reliable and versatile all-weather vehicle for daily
commuting to work, shopping and travel.
Used daily and being kept outside
for most of its life has taken its toll, although it has been regularly
maintained over the 34 years she has owned it.
As a first aider during
the weekends, our vendor has also used it for volunteer work at various sporting
events across the country. The grey county decals were removed and replaced with
blue and yellow ambulance markings to help with access to many of the duty sites
(now removed). It is thought that the 110 has at least saved one life, long
before air ambulance cover was as good as it is now, rescuing a motorcycle
scrambler from high up in the Cotswolds after a serious head injury and
fortunately getting him to the hospital, just in time.
The interior
appears to have been very well looked after over the years, obviously a little
wear but perfectly respectable. Externally, the body has suffered a little from
the elements, which is plain to see in the photographs, and as is often the
case, the bulkhead has suffered the most.
There is a comprehensive
history file which details extensive maintenance over the years, an
MOT being recorded for almost every year (27 certificates on file) and the
original handbook. Most recently, it has had a new battery fitted along with a
new starter motor. The last successful MOT was in November 2021, which had some
advisories detailing the seat belt anchorages and the corrosion to the nearside
front pillar and outriggers.
Much loved for many years, it will be sorely
missed and is only being offered for sale due to the increasing disabilities of
its only owner.
