1989 Chevrolet Corvette C4 Convertible

Only 52,000 miles; well-maintained with many new parts; just serviced; really lovely condition throughout

Widely regarded as the quintessential American sportscar, the Corvette was launched way back in 1953 and remains in production to this day. The fourth generation Corvette ran from 1983 – 1996 and, with the exception of the 5.7 litre V8 engine, was a completely different car to its predecessor.

While the performance of the earlier C3 was never in doubt, criticisms were levelled at the handling and much of the design work on the new C4 centred around the chassis and suspension. A composite transverse front spring was introduced which greatly improved the roadholding. The bodywork was also moulded plastic rather than the fibreglass of old.

Built in 1989, this Corvette Convertible came to the UK in May 1991 and has been in the current ownership since early 2017. It has covered only 51,700 miles to date as warranted by a virtually unbroken run of 26 old MOTs back to 1992 when it was showing 17,474 miles.

A good file of invoices attest to regular upkeep over the years. During the current five-year ownership the car has covered some 3,200 miles and has never wanted for anything, recent new parts including: tyres; exhaust; front ball joints; front brake discs and pads; rocker cover and inlet manifold gaskets; auxiliary belt and tensioner; LH rear hub and bearing; rear fog lights; LED headlights and daylight running lights; seat covers; carpets; seat belts; Hawk alarm/immobiliser; air con overhaul; wheel alignment – you get the picture!

Last serviced in February 2021 since when it has only done around 500 miles, it has an MOT until March 2022 with no advisories recorded. An original owner’s handbook is also present along with a factory service manual on CD.
In really lovely condition throughout, it is quite the nicest Corvette we have seen and will draw admiring looks wherever it goes.

Documents:  V5C; copy old style V5; MOT March 2022 with no advisories; 26 old MOTs; invoices; handbook; CD service manual
