2005 BMW 318Ci cabriolet (E46)

Tidy, facelift 2.0 litre example with manual 'box in desirable M-Sport spec with nice carbon trim touches showing just 76,011 miles

Supplied new in May 2005 this later, face-lift E46 generation 3-series Cabriolet comes to us in popular 318CI Sport guise and is finished in Titan Silver with contrasting black hood and rides on its original 17” five-spoke alloy wheels.

Ordered in desirable M-Sport spec, the car features M-Sport styling to the body with a more aggressive front bumper, sill mouldings and rear bumper along with M-Sport suspension, which is both lower and firmer.  Inside, we find anthracite sports seats finished in Alcantara and carbon effect trim (known as alu-black cube) extending to the gear-knob and wing mirror casings too.

In addition, the spec includes digital climate control with A/C, electric windows all-round, electric mirrors, dynamic stability control, multi-function steering wheel, run-flat indicator, hard-top preparation, auto dipping rear view mirror, electric seats with driver memory, front armrest, park distance control, on-board computer, hi-gloss shadow line trim, M-Sport leather trimmed steering wheel, white indicator lenses and a retro-fit radio/CD.

Under the bonnet is the popular 2.0-litre N46 four-cylinder engine which develops here, in 318 guises, 140bhp driving the rear wheels via five-speed manual transmission.

Showing just 76,011 miles, the car looks to be in most appealing condition inside and out.  The history file includes the V5C revealing five former keepers The owner’s pack and service book records two stamps in a replacement book, both by Lindleys Autocentres, the last in 2016 at 50,409 miles plus a further three hand-written entries at 62,500 miles in 2018 and 67,221 miles in 2019 by Eden Tyres & Servicing of Nottingham and lastly in June 2021 at 74,735 miles by Auto Repairs of Ilkeston which looks to have been a full-service including plugs.

A note under the first Lindleys stamp in May 2015 references fitment of a new engine at 43,828 miles although there is no supporting paperwork for this.  The current MOT is valid until May 2022 recording no advisories.  Coming with two keys, the car looks ready to be enjoyed offering enough performance for most and stylish looks of the later E46 with room for four too.
