2007 Skoda Fabia VRS Special Edition
Late model; one of the final 22 sold in the UK; Special Edition model; few choice upgrades - goes like stink!
Supplied new by Norton Skoda of London in June 2007 this late model Fabia VRS 1st Generation, 6Y model is one of the last off the production line, and according to data available online, only 22 were sold on 07 registrations in the UK with production ceasing in March of that year.
Stated as a VRS Special Edition on the data card in the service book the car is finished in Black and rides on its original 16” VRS alloy wheels and features two-tone grey and black VRS embossed interior with deeply bolstered front sports seats, air conditioning, trip computer, electric front windows, electric mirrors and radio/CD player.
Under the bonnet, we find the proven 1.9-litre 8-valve BLT four-cylinder PD TDI diesel engine which in stock tune develops 130Bhp and 310Nm of torque; enough to give it surprising performance. It beat a petrol Mini Cooper S around Top Gear’s test track in a well-known episode of the programme.
The car shows 131,608 miles and shows some limited signs of age/mileage commensurate with that, including some scratches to the bonnet and scuffs to the wheels. Inside, we see the interior has worn well and is still a cosy place to be with deeply bolstered, VRS embossed two-tone seats.
The history file includes the V5C revealing five former keepers, the owner’s pack & service book with eight stamps, all but the last in January 2021 by the supplying dealer. We also find a printed note referring to works carried out on the car dated January 2021 which includes Street-Plus coil over suspension (hence the lowered stance), new front and rear discs/pads, replacement OSR calliper, new rear tyres, bottom ball joints and track rod ends. It also states new front anti-roll bar drop links, a full service including head gasket, timing belt and water pump with fitment of 150PD head bolts, turbo-back exhaust and a Stage 1 re-map to 170bhp.
We must point out, there are no supporting documents for these upgrades, but we can clearly see the car has been lowered, a cheeky stainless big bore exhaust tip branded ULTER poking out the rear bumper and the car feels really rather potent on moving it around for these images and video, sounding rorty too. We also note, the passenger window seems to click on operation.
In addition, the file includes a selection of sundry bills for parts purchased including a new CV boot and tyres this March, five old MOTs and current MOT valid until April 2023 recording no advisories.
Ideal as a fast road car, or discreet diesel track day weapon, these VRS’s are proper little hot hatches with great capability and respond well to tuning – lots of fun for little cash.
