2003 Land Rover Defender 90 G4
Genuine G4;
power upgrade; GKN overdrive; 68,500 miles
Introduced to celebrate
the success of the G4 Challenge, a round the world expedition dubbed 'The
Ultimate Global Adventure', the G4 Limited Edition of the Defender incorporated
a number of rufty tufty additions which made it stand out from the
crowd.
This 2003 edition was delivered in black, one of a
special range of colours available to order. Distinguished by its G4 decals, it
came with lots of additional chequer-plate, 16" Boost alloys, an A-frame roo-bar
up front and a distinctive external roll cage - all present on this
car.
In addition, front and rear guards were fitted to protect the lights
and at the rear, it got the North American spec rear bumper, step and towbar. In
the air-conditioned interior, it also got a CD player and special black
'Mogul' high tech seat fabric.
Fitted with the excellent TD5 engine, we
are advised this one has been fitted with a power upgrade and a GKN overdrive, a
very useful addition which makes rapid motorway cruising a doddle.
It
has had three previous keepers according to Experian and carries an MOT which
expires at the end of November this year. This G4 has worn several private
plates in its life, having been recently reunited with its registration number
FL53 WWH which although not the plate shown in the photos, is the
current number for the car. It has come to us with no service book or book pack,
so we cannot tell you chapter and verse about its maintenence history, although
can confirm that the indicated 68,600 miles appear genuine according to the MOT
history online.
It looks to be generally in good order, although the
bonnet top paint is flat and there are the normal signs of near 70,000 mile Land
Rover usage.
This unusual limited edition remains one of the most
collectable of Defenders and this one looks a good bet at the realistic
guide price suggested.
