2008 Porsche 911 Carrera 4S Cabriolet
(997)
Potent 3.8 litre example in blue with auto/tiptronic
'box showing just 63,733 miles; later model Gen I with revised
IMS engine code
Spanking later model ‘Gen
I’ 997 Generation of 911 in exciting Carrera 4 S Convertible guise featuring the
potent 3.8 litre flat-six engine developing 355bhp (as against 321bhp of the
non-S 3.6-litre version) and a useful 400NM of torque driving all-4 wheels in
this car via five-speed automatic transmission.
Finished in desirable Night Blue (L39C) the car looks the business
with its 19-inch five-spoke Carrera Classic alloy wheels (405). The options code
inside the service book shows the car to have been specified with (full) black
leather interior (AT), stainless steel door guards (X70), silver faced
stop-watch (026), 5-speed tiptronic (249), seat heating (342), tiptronic buttons
for steering wheel (432), smooth leather steering wheel with round design (460),
12volt socket in passenger footwell (621), top-tinted windscreen (567),
Navigation Europe (610), Park Assist (635), Sport Chrono Plus (640), telephone
module for PCM (666) and navigation for PCM (672) which are in addition to the
standard spec of the car.
Showing just 63,733
miles, this 911’s history file includes the V5C showing four-former keepers to
our vendor, a Porsche enthusiast who’s owned it from October 2020, the owner’s
pack and service book showing it was supplied by Porsche Centre Reading
revealing five stamps, the last in April 2021 at 59,198 miles by Norwich Porsche
Specialists, Autowerke. In addition, the book contains a further three stamps
for brake fluid changes and one for airbag checks. The file also includes a
selection of invoices for routine maintenance including one for the last service
which cost £791.
We also find an old V5C, note
from the former owner, who was a team manager at a historic Formula 1 team and
serviced it himself through his race work, which was involved with a famous
racing driver plus other maintenance bills including for a replacement Gateway
control unit in May 2019 at a cost of some £841, a purchase receipt for some
£33,000 dated February 2016 at 49,000 miles, and another in October 2020 for
£28,000 from Cranley Sports & Classic along with seven old MOTs plus the
current valid until April 2023 recording one minor advisory for ‘manufacturer
under trays fitted obscuring inspection’.
A
smart Gen 1 example, with critically, the later IMS bearing which solves the
bearing failure issue as detailed by the Porsche workshop manual and Porsche
Owners Club which suggest later 997.1 cars post engine number 68509791 have the
larger revised IMS – this example looks to have the later engine with code
68805574 and as such the revised IMS.
Ready to
be enjoyed, this smart convertible example has the more appealing wider body
shape, more powerful S engine with auto/tiptronic ‘box and only 63,733 miles –
