2001 Porsche Boxster (986)
No Reserve
One-family-owned from new; pretty, earlier example with the
2.7 litre engine option mated to manual transmission showing just 74,500
miles
Dating from March 2001 and supplied new by
HR Owen (now Porsche Centre Hatfield), this remarkably original and lower
mileage Porsche 986 Boxster 2.7 has spent it’s whole life in the ownership of
just one family. The three former keepers recorded and current are actually just
three individuals – son, father (twice) and daughter.
The options code under the bonnet reveals this 986 to have been
ordered in desirable Lapis Blue metallic paint, with a navy blue hood and
graphite grey leather interior. The options specified include electric sports
seats (codes 375 and 376), PSM Porsche Stability Management (476), automatic air
conditioning (573), a Becker Porsche CDR-22 CD radio and CDC-3 6-disc CD changer
(692 and 695), and extended leather to the dashboard and door panels (981), a
rare option on a Boxster that really increases the premium feel of the
interior.
The first owner (the son) kept the
Boxster for six years to 2007, by which time it had covered just under 48,000
miles, and been serviced four times, twice by the supplying dealer and twice by
well-respected Porsche specialists JZ Machtech.
He then sold the
car to his father, who kept it for another six years, covering only c.11,000
miles before passing it on to his daughter in 2013, by which time the odometer
was reading 59,000 miles. The daughter kept the car for a further seven years
before handing it back to her father in 2020. The service record shows a further
3 stamps in 2013, 2016, and most recently in January 2022, when the car had a
comprehensive Major service including new spark plugs, drive belt, rear brake
pads, brake fluid change and some additional works including a new rear window
to the hood, at Boxster specialist Flat Six Classics.
The history file is comprehensive, containing 16 service and
maintenance invoices and the last 13 MOT certificates, along with the original
leather owners book pack containing the owner’s manuals and the stamped
maintenance record with the eight aforementioned stamps. The current MOT runs
until September 2022 recording just two minor advisories for lambda reading
and handbrake efficiency.
These 986
Boxsters are becoming collectable now that the model has passed its
25th birthday and is recognised by Porsche Classic. Early low mileage
cars with good history are leading the charge value wise, and with Y91 JTM
having spent it’s whole life in the care of just one family, it looks like a
great opportunity.
