1994 Mazda Eunos MkI
Tidy and unmolested JDM
spec Eunos (MX5) with 1.8 engine and automatic transmission; recent mohair hood
and glass rear screen; ready to be enjoyed
Dating
from March 1994 this Japanese Domestic Market (JDM) spec Mazda Eunos (MX5) MkI
(NA) comes to us in classic bright red, sitting upon its original seven-spoke
14” alloy wheels and features of course, the coolest aspect, its pop-up
headlights.
Under the bonnet we find the proven
1.8 litre fuel injected four-cylinder BP-ZE introduced for the first of the
MKI’s face-lifts in 1994 and develops 129bhp and 149NM of torque driving the
rear wheels here, unusually via four-speed Jatco automatic transmission.
As a
JDM spec car, the standard specification was generally better than that of the
equivalent UK market cars and features power-steering, electric windows,
electric mirrors and air conditioning.
This tidy example has also benefitted from a retro-fit Mohair hood with
glass rear screen, replacing the often now fragile original vinyl roof with
plastic rear screen. We also see fitment of the optional and hugely beneficial
wind-deflector which helps keep your hair our your face and conversation at
normal volumes.
The history file includes the
V5C showing just two former UK keepers to our vendor who has enjoyed the car
since purchase in February 2018. The V5C also confirms the car was imported and
registered here in October 2005 at which time, at first MOT the Eunos showed
84,062Km.  In addition, we find some
15 old MOTs plus current valid until November 2022 which recorded eight minor
advisories (check online, enter the reg at check-mot.service.gov.uk).
Furthermore, recent works undertaken to keep the car in good health
include a replacement radiator, new Goodyear front tyres, a rear brake calliper,
new brake pads, hoses and springs, larger battery and wax oil protection to the
underside.
Other work during his ownership includes regreased a window
regulator, new coil pack, new HT leads, replaced and greased automatic gearshift
bushings, some cosmetic attention to NS door, wing and boot lid, replacement NS
window regulator, and new diff oil plus engine service in November 2019. The
file includes a host of parts and maintenance invoices for these recent works
plus more historic bills dating back to 2005 including timing belt change at
85,805Km in Jan 2006 plus the original purchase invoice upon import and supply
by Car International of Hants in 2005.
The car
shows just 144,784Km which equals 89,865 miles of which c.7,000Km have been
covered by our vendor. Ready to be enjoyed and driven to the sale from Bridport,
Dorset, these MkI Eunos/MX5 offer huge fun at an affordable level and with
values on the rise, now’s the time to get involved.
