1985 Alfa Romeo Spider 2000 S3

Current owner 17 years; RHD; garaged with summer use only; immobiliser fitted; considerable history file dating back to 1989; ready for use

Dating from August 1985 this pretty Series 3 Spider (S3) was supplied by Bell & Colvill and is finished in silver and sits upon a set of after market TSW eight-spoke 14” alloy wheels and originally would have had a black rear rubber spoiler, but here we find a silver painted Zender variant fitted.

Under the bonnet, we find the familiar 2.0-litre DOHC 8-valve four-cylinder engine with twin Weber carbs producing 126bhp and 178NM of torque driving the rear wheels via five-speed manual transmission. 

Inside, we find black vinyl seats, lovely timber steering wheel, manual windows and mirrors, digital clock and manual hood.

The car shows 105,943 miles and is obviously right hand drive.  It has been with our vendor since purchase in May 2005, during which time it has seen only limited dry summer use, being garaged through the winter months.

The history file includes the V5C recording just five former keepers, the owner’s manual, service directory, original service booklet with 15 stamps and a 2^nd booklet with an additional two stamps, an impressive 20+ old MOTs dating back to 1990 and considerable file of bills and invoices for parts and routine maintenance dating back to 1989.

Recent works of note include a skimmed head and new timing chain in August 2021. In addition we find a copy of the advert from when our man bought the car from Lombarda Sport of London, spare keys, old style log books, Meta security information, owner’s club correspondence and clean MOT valid until May 2023.

Ready to be enjoyed, with a few cosmetic bits one might want to improve upon over time, these Alfa Spiders are good fun and very usable (Modern) Classics with a great owner’s club scene and strong parts supply.
