1961 Land Rover Series II
Rebuilt some 10
years ago with galvanised chassis; freewheeling hubs
KVS544
was first registered in April 1961. The current vendor purchased the Landrover
in September 2013 and then undertook a comprehensive restoration in 2015 - it
has seen little use since and has been garage stored.
The
work has included; a galvanised chassis (made by Marsland) with correct
specification for Series II, galvanised bulkhead (by Ashtree)again with correct
specification for the year. All aluminium door tops (by Rocky Mountain) complete
with rot-proof window channels were added.
The engine was refurbished
with original correct Solex carburetter being rebuilt by Carburetter Exchange.
An electronic ignition system was installed and a complete new wiring loom (by
Autosparks). All new braking lines and cylinders were fitted and a
stainless-steel exhaust system (by Double S Exhausts). A new radiator, fuel
tank were added.
This smart Series II then had new Michelin tyres
fitted all round along with a tow hitch and electrics. It has correct Series II
Fairey free-wheel hubs and correct original glass Lucas lamps and indicators.
The canvas is in great shape, all finished off with a full respray inside and
out.
All resulting in a great example of a Series II ready to be
enjoyed.
