1989 Land Rover 90 4C
Beautifully restored on
a galvanised chassis; original 2.5 petrol engine; LED light upgrade; rear seats;
showing just 63,399 miles
Dating from February
1989 this exceptionally clean and tidy Land Rover 90 hails from just prior to
the adoption of the ‘Defender’ name and has been lovingly, and painstakingly
restored by Astwoods 4x4 at the request of our vendor's late
husband.
The 90 is finished in traditional
Shire Blue and sits upon its original 16” white painted steel wheels shod with
Goodyear Wrangler AT/S tyres and comes in County spec (this may, or may not be
original) and features the now rare to find 2.5-litre 17H naturally aspirated
four-cylinder petrol engine which carried over the chain-driven cam of the old
2.25 litre petrol but now developed 83bhp driving all-four wheels via five-speed
manual transmission.
Underneath this example we
find a new galvanised chassis which should give way to any of the usual fears
about corrosion for which these trusty steeds are usually
known.
Showing just 63,399 miles, this looks to
be correct from the MOT history we can see back to 2006 when it had covered
45,205, which also shows the truck to have covered just 10,000 miles in the past
12 years and but a couple of thousand in the last few.
Inside, we find fold up seats in the rear, new vinyl front seats
with cubby box, upgrade LED head lights and LED rear spotlights, leather wrapped
Lode Lane steering wheel, centrally mounted Pioneer touch screen LCD screen with
reverse camera potential and entertainment options (see
images).
The history file includes the V5C
recording five former keepers, he first being GCHQ, with the current and
former, and other former are father-in-law, husband and wife along with a
Heritage Certificate confirming the date of manufacture, that it was sold via a
dealer called G.O.H.G Transport of Cheltenham. The file also includes the
original owner’s pack with manuals and wiring diagram along with the current MOT
valid until November 2022 recording no advisories.
**Further documentation has since been
recieved and includes 7 copy old MOTs and a selection of bills for parts and
general maintenance undertaken including new rocker cover gasket, new
contacts and ignition condensor in 2017, headlight unit, refurbishment of
the rear hubs and new manifold gasket in 2015 much of which looks to have been
pre-restoration. **
