1984 Honda Prelude GXL (MkII)
Two owners from
new and only 39,355 miles on this 2nd Gen 1.8 litre twin-carb manual Prelude;
timing belt service August 2022 - find another?!
Supplied new by Morning Star Motors Ltd of Bristol in March 1984,
this 2nd Generation Honda Prelude is finished in Stratos blue and
retains its original 13” alloy wheels.
Under
the bonnet we find the 1.8 litre twin carb DOHC 12-valve ET2 four-cylinder
petrol engine (which is cleverly tilted back slightly and set low to achieve the
car’s low bonnet line) which drives the front wheels via five-speed manual
transmission.
Recorded as a GXL spec
model on the V5C, we find an electric glass sunroof, rear boot spoiler,
two-tone Blue and light grey cloth seats, electric windows, electric aerial,
heated rear screen, digital clock, pop-up lights and original radio cassette
player.
The car comes to us showing just 39,355
miles which is incredible really, covered by just two owners, the current since
March 2016 with the original lady owner enjoying the car from new until
2016.
The history file includes the V5C
confirming just one former keeper, the owner’s manual and service book revealing
three stamps including PDI, the last in August 2022 including a cambelt service.
Prior to that, the last stamp was in 1985 at 5,847 miles.
In addition, we also find the original bill of sale to Mrs Boulton
of Bristol for £9,075 with her part exchanging a Honda Accord towards the
purchase of this Prelude and the current MOT, valid until August
2023.
