1998 Aston Martin DB7 (i6)

Pretty supercharged six-pot Coupe from 19 year ownership; recent £4,981 spend at a marque specialist with only 300 miles since

Supplied new by Paramount Aston Martin of Derby in April 1998, this eye-catching DB7 i6 is finished in dark blue and sits upon one of the more desirable DB7 wheel options, the 18” 12-spoke alloy wheels.

The car also wears, we believe the ‘Visual Dynamics Bodywork Enhancement’ kit which was a hefty £3,600 option at the time and included the moulded side skirts, front valence, rear spoiler and also in addition, we believe, the Sports exhaust too (an additional extra) which formed part of the larger Driving Dynamics pack.  Its unclear however if this car received the suspension, brake or power upgrade (the brakes look standard as are the wheels).  This bodykit also appeared on the special edition Alfred Dunhill cars of which 150 were built (this is not one of them).

That aside, it certainly gives this DB7 added visual appeal and a bit more bark to the usually rather muted exhaust note.  Under the finely sculpted bonnet, we find the Jaguar-sourced 3.2 litre AJ6 inline-six cylinder engine with supercharger to generate 335Bhp and whopping 489NM of torque driving the rear wheels, here via four-speed GM 4L80-E automatic transmission which gave this sleek Ian Callum designed Coupe a 0-60mph time of 6.5 seconds and top speed of 160mph.

Inside, we find cream leather with blue piping, two tone blue and cream centre console and door cards, heated electric seats, half-timbered steering wheel, walnut trim, cruise control, electric windows, electric mirrors, air conditioning, radio/CD player, suede head lining and digital clock.

The car shows 101,426 miles which have been covered by just three former owners plus the current who has enjoyed the car sparingly for the last 19 years.

The history file includes the V5C, the book pack which includes eight service stamps plus the last which is hand-written in August 2010 at 85,855 miles by Fussell Wadman Ltd of Devizes. All other eight stamps have been by Aston Martin main dealers.

Furthermore, the file includes the current MOT valid until July 2023 recording just one minor advisory for wear in both rear suspension bushes (incidentally, the MOT history reveals the car to have covered just c.200 miles in the last four years), five old MOTs and a selection of bills including a recent £4,981 spend on the car at the Stratton Motor Company, Aston Martin Heritage Racing Support Centre, Norwich dated August 2019 (details are undisclosed) along with some more historic bills including for the last service entry in May 2012.

Ready to be enjoyed, this DB7 looks rather tempting at the guide price given the bodykit, sports exhaust, recent considerable spend and low ownership.
