1928 Austin Clifton Heavy 12 Tourer

Lovely example; one of the nicest we have seen; interesting features; older restoration ready to go and show - a delight

First registered in London on 1st June 1928, this fine Heavy 12 first lived with Mr Edward Jermyn of London SE5. It was to remain in his hands until 1963, a period of 35 years. It has had just six more owners since then - its current keeper acquiring the car locally in 2006. The buff logbook and original tax disc are on file.

Immediately on acquisition, our vendor sent the car for a professional repaint and a retrim by local trimmer Al Booking. Both jobs were been done to a very high standard both inside and out. The maroon paintwork has been beautifully applied and the weather equipment is all present and correct.

The previous owner had reputedly rebuilt the engine not long before the vendor took the car on, and he confirms it pulls really well and has been a reliable companion on may trips, including the Gordon Bennett in Ireland. He fitted a new clutch to enable easier gear selection and that is all he has needed to do.

The vendor has pointed out that it has Alligator spring covers - metal covers which work like leather spring gaitors but better and after-market undertrays around the engine - rare and interesting if you are into your Austin 12s....there isn't a lot more to add - it is simply one of the nicest we have seen and is on offer for the price of a scruffy Chummy which makes you think!
