1923 Crossley 19.6HP

Two seater and dickey sports body; chassis and parts imported from Australia in 1990; restored during the 90s; winner of the Pomeroy Edwardian Trophy for non-FWB cars; went to Nice and back in 2017

This car was assembled in the UK after being imported from Australia as a chassis and miscellaneous parts.

A major restoration took place during the 1990s while in the hands of well known Crossley specialist, Malcom Jenner.

The body was also constructed then to emulate the original 2-seater with dickey sports model. Coach trimmers Protectus also created the front seat with spring base and stuffed pleats for the seat squab.

It was first registered as SV 9311 in 2002, shortly after entering the UK.

In 2004, it was transferred to Mark Brittle of Sussex, who continued to improve the car, paying for a new crownwheel/pinion (tall 3.3:1 according to the VSCC Buff Form issued in 2014) and bearings from Neve Engineering and significant engine work costing £5,793 by NP Veteran Engineering.

Changing hands again in 2011, then to our vendors family in 2012, the Crossley was driven to Nice in the South of France for a holiday in 2017 without any problems, winning overall the Concours d'Élégance at St Brieuc while there. It has also competed in the VSCC's Goodwood Sprint and is a winner of the prestigious Pomeroy Edwardian Trophy for non-FWB cars.

During 2022, SV 9311 has had at least a further £7,000 spent on it, which has included stripping down the engine, freeing off rusty piston rings, completing some stitch repairs, recutting of valve seats, recondition of exhaust manifold and a rebuild of the magneto. This was all arranged for our vendor by vintage car specialist, Clive Press.
