1989 Mercedes-Benz 230E (W124) 

One-family-owned from new; only 72,000 miles with automatic transmission in entirely unmolested order; driven 150 miles to the sale; a cracking example

Supplied new by Normand (Bromley) Ltd Mercedes dealer to its first owner, Mr D Stock in November 1989 this super W124 series saloon comes to us in 230E form.

Finished in Glacier White, the car looks to be entirely unmolested and original – rare to find and shows just 72,871 miles.  The car has even retained its original steel wheels and 15” plastic hub caps.

Under the bonnet, we find the fuel injected 2.3 litre M102.982 four cylinder petrol engine which develops 130bhp and drives the rear wheels here, via four-speed automatic transmission.

Inside the cabin, we find blue cloth seats with manual adjustment, Zebrano wood trim, original Blaupunkt radio/cassette player, electric sunroof, electric rear head rest drop function and heated rear screen along with electric windows and electric passenger mirror.

The history file includes the V5C showing just one owner from new until September 2021 when the car passed to Mr Stock’s son on his demise – thus one family owned, father and son from new.

Furthermore, we find several old style log books, old MOTs and 23 old tax discs. The MOT history shows the car to have covered very little miles, c.200 or so over the last 10 years as the car went back and forth for MOT.  We also find a selection of bills for maintenance including a recent £1,110 spend in April 2022 on a new water pump, fuel pipes, fuel pump and fuel pressure regulator. The current MOT is valid until April 2023 recording no advisories.

Driven 150 miles to the sale, this looks like an exceptionally clean example that wants for nothing other than some regular use.  What a corker.
