Dating from 1934, this attractive
RP saloon has seen extensive restoration, fortunately retaining the nicely
patinated original upholstery.
The quality of the work is very good, the
bulk of it taking place in 2001. In 2003 it was fitted with new headlining
and a fully refurbished sunroof which opens smoothly and looks super.
In
2006 new spring shackles and king pins were added and the clutch relined in
2008. 2009 saw a decoke and new exhaust valves and a reconditined oil pump.
During this period the mileage was relatively small and the car has
remained spick and span.
Coming into the hands of our vendor in 2015, he
purchased it from a friend suffering from ill health and added it to his
collection, keeping it snug in a heated garage along with his other Austins. It
has not had a lot of use, but has been kept all up together and is on the button
and ready to go.
The RP is a much easier car to live with than some of
the earlier Seven Saloons, offering more room and a more conventional driving
experience.
