No Reserve
Earlier Discovery 1 on offer at No
Reserve from a deceased estate boasting the 3.5 litre fuel injected V8 and
manual transmission
Dating from April 1992 this
earlier, pre-facelift Series I Discovery is finished in dark Blue and sits on
period correct 16” five-spoke alloy wheels and benefits from roof rails and a
tow bar.
Under the bonnet, we find the proven
3.5 litre fuel injected (Lucas 14CUX) Rover V8 engine driving all-four wheels
via five-speed manual transmission along with the usual high and low range
transfer box and locking centre diff.
Inside,
we find the standard light Sonar Blue cloth upholstery in what looks to be good
order with twin sunroofs and four electric windows.
The truck comes to us from a deceased estate and comes with only
the current MOT certificate valid until September 2023 recording three minor
advisories (enter the reg at check-mot.service.gov.uk) so the new owner will
need to apply to the DVLA for a replacement logbook with form V55 (we can
provide) and a cheque for £25.
Starting
promptly and sounding very much like the V8 that it is, the truck was driven to
us from Shrewsbury and was reputed to drive well although we did note that
turning the ignition off doesn’t seem to turn the engine off – so something will
need looking at there, thus we had to stall it to turn it
off.
Presenting generally well for its age and
119,062 miles the truck shows some marks and dings as pictured along with the
usual bit of Disco I corrosion in the usual areas (see images) but otherwise
looks quite appealing for an earlier V8 Disco, especially at No Reserve so the
highest bid takes it home.
