Supplied new April 1998 this late model ZJ generation
of Jeep Grand Cherokee is finished in Aubergine and sits upon its period correct
16inch alloy wheels shod with chunky Cooper A/T tyres and benefits from useful
side steps, tow bar and privacy glass to the rear.
Under the hood, we find the popular 4.0 litre AMC 242 inline-six
cylinder petrol engine which developed a useful 190bhp and 225 ft lb of torque
driving all-four wheels via four-speed 42RE automatic transmission with
Quadra-Trac full time four-wheel drive with low range
option.
Inside this ‘Limited’ spec Grand
Cherokee we find the typically luxurious and plush leather interior in charcoal
with electric seat adjustment, two-stage heated front seats, adjustable lumbar,
electric windows, electric mirrors, climate control with AC, electric glass
sunroof, heated rear window, front fog lights, cruise control, walnut trim,
premium Infinity Gold sound system with 6-speakers (an after market Sony head
unit has been retro-fitted) and electronic vehicle information centre
(EVIC).
The Cherokee shows 119,859 miles which
is comparably low for one of these easy going comfortable mile munchers of its
era and presents well with but a few signs of life, age and use with some
localised lacquer peel on one side as pictured on a section of lower body
cladding and some milking to the windscreen. That aside, the truck started promptly,
felt ever so comfortable and moved around with ease having been driving up to us
by the vendor from South Wales, proving very handy in the recent snowy
weather.
The vehicle has an LPG system on it
with switch on the dash and tank as seen in the images, fitted in the boot. We cannot state if this works, or how
well it works but we understand the vendor has used it, thus helping alleviate
some of the fuel costs.
The history file
includes the V5C recording 10 former keepers, the current since 2015 along with
the owner’s pack and manuals plus a selection of historic bills for a some works to the LPG system in 2013, a
historic service and some tyres in 2003, 6 old MOTs and the current MOT, valid
until March 2024 recording three minor advisories.
