Older restoration; from long-term ownership; recent Newton Commercial
First registered in June 1965, this Austin Mini Cooper has been in the current ownership since 2010.
Undergoing a bare shell restoration in 2009, the car presents well, both inside and out, with a newly upholstered interior from Newton Commercial, making it a rather nice place to be.
While there are no invoices to show exactly what was done during its restoration, there are a few photos to show the car during the process including a photo of it stripped down to its most minimal form. Resprayed in its original colour, the bodywork is as you would expect of a 14-year-old paint job, the red still vibrant and looking good albeit with areas of imperfection, but still eye catching with its black roof.
Although tax and MOT exempt, we do have MOT certificates dating from 2011 through to 2016 showing a good track record only failing on minor issues which then appear to have been rectified for its re-tests.
Overall, a tidy example of a British icon, with some room for improvement if desired.
