Description
Very sound and original with recent professional rear cross member and
bulkhead restoration; nice subtle upgrades; driven 100+ miles to the sale; a cut

First registered in September 1991, this very original 90
hardtop has retained its original Pembroke Grey paintwork and side decals. It
sits on a very sound chassis which has seen a professionally replaced rear cross
member and a restored bulkhead - the footwells are in excellent order as can be
seen in the photos.
It retains its original 200Tdi engine - for many the
best and most reliable unit Land Rover ever used and due to its age, is eligible
for export to the US and Canada.
It is fitted with Rostyle steel wheels
and Michelin XZL tyres and a few tasteful and thoughtfull additions to improve
driving without compromising originality.
It has Dynamat soundproofing
under the bonnet, footwell and seat box and a Wright Off Road accoustic one
piece mat system to footwells and seat box too, plus further underbonnet sound
insulation. In addition, the rear load floor and arches have heavy duty rubber
mats.
The vendor has also fitted Gwyn Lewis extended mud flap and mud
shields up front and mud shields to the rear arches. Gwyn Lewis also supplied a
heavy-duty track rod with Delphi greasable ball joints.
It has a Halogen
bulb conversion within the original-style headlight to retain the original look
plus a new galvanised front bumper, Bluetooth radio with hands-free calling,
Herringbone tweed headlining and driver's seat riser rails which massively
improve leg room.
Joey, as it is affectionately known (obviously), has a
Turbo Technics refurbed solid-billet core turbo under the bonnet and Bearmach
silicon turbo hoses. The engine has proved an instant starter and has performed
exactly as it should while onsite.
Driven 120+ miles to the sale, this
five-owner, 167,000 mile Defender definitely has something about it. MOTd
until October 2024 with just a few minor advisories, it is rather super,
nicely original and only on offer due to a change in
priorities.
