Comprehensively rebuilt on a galvanised chassis and bulkhead; hugely
detailed build record; 200TDi with Disco ratios; very nicely finished and ready
Stripped to the bare bones and rebuilt on a brand-new Richards galvanised chassis (later etch primed and painted black), the original bulkhead was then fully refurbished and hot-dip galvanised by Ashtree Restoration Ltd.
The front axle was rebuilt with new steering ball swivels, heavy duty wheel hubs, new wheel bearings and new brake assemblies throughout.
The rear was fully rebuilt too with new heavy-duty hubs and bearings. New brake assemblies were added along with new master and slave cylinders. It also had new suspension turrets (again primed and painted), along with new springs and shocks and bushes.
The steering had new bushings and damper, with all steering arms being shot-blasted and protection painted.
The original wheels were blast-cleaned and powder coated for added protection and new tyres fitted.
The Transfer box was refurbished by Ascroft with Discovery ratios to raise the overall gearing. The gearbox was also refurbished and a new clutch fitted with new master and slave cylinders. The propshafts were replaced with new.
The original 200TDi was fully checked over with no major work required. The original Garrett turbo was reconditioned and a new starter and alternator was added, along with coolant pipes, a new radiator and reotec electric fan. The injection pump was also refurbished.
All panels were stripped and replaced where necessary. New panels included outer front wings, flooring, front doors, sills and special Masai side glass installed. All other panels were stripped and the whole ensemble painted Atlantis blue Pearl (as used on the 50th Anniversary models). At this stage, the vendor also modified the bulkhead behind the driver to allow more driver legroom.
A complete new wiring loom was fitted along with LED sidelights, indicators, reverse light and fog light.
After full insulation was added, a premier carpet set was fitted, Exmoor Trim Elite Mk2 front seats added, new belts, side trims, new roof trim, a new air conditioning system added and a Raptor aluminium dash upgrade. It has a radio CD and speakers and a SKYTAG Tracker fitted,the subscription of which could be carried on by the new owner is so desired.
Further additions include a swing out rear spare wheel carrier, Safari raised air-intake, front and rear diff protection, steering protection plate, headlight protectors and KBR grilles on the front wings.
The work was completed in 2019, since when it has covered some 7,500 miles. The quality of the work and the attention to detail is obvious and you really will struggle to find a better example.
