Rare 1.6 Sport model; specially
prepared for Targa Rallies with many new parts; just three former keepers;
well-loved and waxoiled
First registered in April 1978
and showing just three previous keepers on the logbook, this rare and desirable
Chrysler Sunbeam comes to us prepared to take on Targa Rallies, although we are
told that it never ended up competing.
Fitted with a
single carburettor for Targa Rally use, it also comes with the original twin
Weber carbs and inlet manifold. Other bits and bobs fitted to the car include a
new quick steering rack, new alloy radiator, works rear diff, new exhaust, Skip
Brown springs, new Bilstein rear shocks, roll cage plus much else
besides.
Coming with just a V5C,
there is also a handwritten note detailing some of the considerable
expenditure that has been lavished on this car over the past couple of
years. A check of the MOT history online shows that it has been tested regularly
but only lightly used in recent years, covering some 2,600 miles since 2007.
Classed as a Historic Vehicle on the V5C, it is now MOT-exempt and free to tax.
Running and driving nicely on site, and looking reassuringly straight
and solid, this is a great opportunity to bag yourself a rare classic with
some choice rally upgrades.
