Supplied new by
Aston Green Audi of Slough in March 2005, this Audi S4 Avant (B6) has been in
the current ownership since 2012 with four previous owners. It has been kept as
part of a fleet of interesting cars owned by the vendor, all maintained by a
professional engineer that he employs.
The Audi
has been a reliable year-round workhorse, covering 52k miles during our vendor’s
13-year ownership, the odometer currently showing 117,500 miles. Often used as a
family hack to carry the dogs in, it is a bit grubby inside, the headlining has
sagged and the paintwork is poor in places, as shown in the photos.
A detailed service history is shown in the
photos and, good chap that he is, the vendor has declared a low rpm engine
vibration, the source of which has so far proved difficult to identify or
rectify, despite considerable investigation and expenditure (see last photo).
During the course of these investigations the cam covers were removed and the
vendor states that the timing chains were inspected and found to be tight and in
good condition.
In regular use since the
vibration was detected six months ago, covering some 1,500 trouble-free miles,
we are told that it does not affect the performance of the car. Driven 20 miles
to the sale, it been starting instantly and running well as we have moved it
around on site, with the vibration hard to detect, although the engine
management light is illuminated (and covered with black tape so it doesn’t
distract when driving at night).
Supplied with a
spare set of genuine Audi wheels shod with winter tyres (worth a fair chunk of
money on their own), it has an MOT until March 2026 with just one minor advisory
(o/s/r tyre worn).
OK, it may be a bit of a
gamble but this well-maintained Audi S4 Avant has lots to recommend it -
powerful 339bhp 4.2 V8; six-speed manual gearbox; grippy four-wheel-drive;
gorgeous heated Recaro sports seats; Bose sound system etc. A really useful bit
of kit to have around and great fun to drive, it will get any petrol-head
drooling.
You won’t care if it gets a few dings
in the supermarket car park and best of all, it is on offer here at no reserve
so the bravest bidder drives it home…
