Description
Full nut and bolt restoration; still fresh as not been driven
since completion; comfort seat option included; sought after Series 1 ½ in
better condition than the day it was new
First sent out from Coventry to Jaguar Cars of New York and
then distributed and sold to the first owner by The Standard Motor Co of
Lincoln, Nebraska in September of 1968. The Heritage Certificate on file
confirms the original colour to have been Willow Green.
We understand the
colour was changed to a cream shade at one point and was sold 50 years later in
2018 from Texas (copy of the advert included), where it was described as
"nearly rust free with just a little corrosion at the base of the drivers
door........an early transitional car, the bonnet appearing to be a Series 1
part with the 'small' mouth".
The vendor purchased the car for $25,000
and imported the car to into the UK in 2020. It was converted to RHD and
the full nut and bolt restoration was carried out over several years. This car
is probably one of the most beautiful examples to be on the market
today.
Every part on the car has been either refurbished or replaced to the
highest standard, with some of details listed below.
We are told that the engine, gearbox and rear axle were completely
rebuilt and overhauled by a Jaguar specialist in the UK and there have been
upgraded HD8 carburettors and tubular exhaust manifold fitted as a finishing
touch.
The front and rear suspension was overhauled, including gas
adjustable shock absorbers all round. New steering rack was fitted along with
new wheels bearings. wheels and tyres.
Uprated front and rear brake discs, with vented units to the front
and competition 4 pot calipers to the rear with an easy brake bleed
conversion.
New wiring looms have been upgraded to ensure all the little electric
gremlins that sometimes crop up are eliminated.
Full body bare metal repaint has been carried out in a beautiful
light gold, by the well know S.O.S Workshop Ltd (invoice included). All hardware
replaced with stainless steel, with all bright work professionally
rechromed.
New deep rich fawn leather complete the interior from world renowned
specialist and really sets this car off from the rest. In addition, two comfort
seat backs trimmed in the same beautiful leather are included that can be
swapped over for those long road trips.
The car was only registered in the UK this year, the restoration
haviing only just been completed, therefore it may need a little
fettling having not been on the road since it was finished.
We
have had the engine running briefly here (please view the video attached)
but the carburettors do need balancing.
