A notably late example of Mercedes-Benz’s
celebrated ‘Strich Acht’ design – one of which famously clocked up 2.9 million
miles – this UK-market
200 Saloon is equipped with the 2-litre
SOHC four-cylinder
engine and manual transmission.
Showing a credible but unwarranted 94,500
miles, it comes with its rare original manual and service book. First
registered in March 1976 in Middlesex (‘OMB
732P’),
it has been dry-stored
in a private collection for much of the past decade.
Finished in Blue
with Red MB-Tex
upholstery and Beige carpets, it last passed an MOT less than 300 miles ago.
Said to have been running last year, it will now require recommissioning prior
to road use. Accompanied by three keys (one fitting all locks), this practical
four/five-seater
has the makings of a usable family classic with appealing
provenance.
Complete with the rare original manual, original service
book, V5C and various receipts.
The vehicle was running and driving last
year but some parts of the engine have now been removed while the oil pump was
being replaced. The sump and rocker cover are in boxes in the boot.
This
will of course require reassembly and then recommissioning.
