Complete
restoration in 2017/18; driven to the auction over 80 miles; woodwork all
been replaced; not been out in rain in 8 years; with out doubt one of the
cleanest examples on the market today
This
delightful 1971 Morris Minor Traveller, first registered in June, presents as
one of the cleanest examples available on the market today. With just four
former keepers recorded and in the same ownership since October 2017, this
charming little estate has clearly been cherished and
enjoyed.
During the last eight years, the vendor,
assisted by a friend who is a classic car enthusiast, undertook a comprehensive
rebuild, resulting in a car that is as impressive underneath as it is on top.
Power comes from a reconditioned 1098cc engine paired with a reconditioned
gearbox, delivering the familiar and endearing Morris Minor driving experience.
Mechanically refreshed throughout, the car benefits from new brakes all round
and a new fuel tank, ensuring it is ready for immediate
enjoyment.
The bodywork was treated to a full
respray in June 2017, transforming the car from its original blue into the rich
and attractive burgundy red it wears today. With the roof removed, all of the
timber framing was replaced, leaving the iconic Traveller woodwork looking
excellent and structurally sound.
This Morris
Minor has proven itself to be a dependable and usable classic, having been
driven over 80 miles to the sale venue and subsequently started, stopped and
driven repeatedly for photography and video purposes without issue. While the
vendor does not retain extensive paperwork, as the restoration work was carried
out personally, photographs of the rebuild are to follow and will be added to
the listing.
In summary, this is a beautifully
presented Morris Minor Traveller that requires nothing further, simply to be
driven and enjoyed. A rare opportunity to acquire a lovingly restored example of
this ever-popular British classic.
