Jaguar XK8 4.2 Coupe is a well-presented example of Jaguar’s elegant grand
tourer, showing 90,426 miles and finished in a timeless Metallic Black over
cream beige leather — a particularly attractive and period-correct colour
combination. Powered by the later 4.2-litre V8 and paired with a smooth-shifting
six-speed automatic gearbox, this XK8 offers refined performance with the
benefit of improved reliability over earlier models.
The car has had five former keepers and has been in the current
ownership since July 2019. During that time, important long-term mechanical work
has been addressed, most notably the fitment of a brand-new petrol tank — a
well-known and often costly failure point on XK8s, now reassuringly resolved.
The gearbox oil has also been replaced as part of sensible preventative
maintenance, contributing to the car’s smooth and composed driving
experience.
A recent MOT has been completed with
only minor advisories noted, limited to tyre condition and slight headlamp
misting. Structurally, the car presents well with no corrosion identified to key
areas, which will be welcome reassurance to prospective buyers. There is some
minor rust present on the front wing, a cosmetic issue that is common on these
models and does not detract significantly from the overall
presentation.
Inside, the cabin remains in good
order, with clean leather seats, tidy trim and a well-kept headlining,
reflecting careful ownership. All electrics function as expected at the time of
writing, with the exception of the fuel gauge, which operates correctly but does
not quite reach full when the tank is brimmed.
The car starts readily, runs smoothly and has driven well during its
time on site for photography. As a late-model 4.2-litre XK8 in a desirable
specification, this example represents a usable and increasingly appreciated
modern classic, with key maintenance work already completed and ready to be
enjoyed by its next owner.
