The Hillman
Minx is a fine example of the practical and dependable British family saloons of
the 1960s. Introduced in 1967 as part of Rootes' all-new 'Arrow' range, it
combined crisp styling with straightforward mechanicals and comfortable road
manners, making it a popular choice with families across Britain. Today,
surviving examples are becoming increasingly uncommon, offering an affordable
and characterful entry into classic motoring.
Manufactured in the first year of Arrow production, this Minx is
presented in an attractive shade of baby blue, having originally left the
factory in white. While it is not known exactly when the car was repainted, the
new colour suits the crisp styling of the Arrow range particularly
well.
Displaying an indicated 89,249 miles, which
our vendor believes to be correct, although bidders should satisfy themselves as
always, the Minx presents as an honest, usable example. The bodywork is free
from any significant dents or scratches, with only a few minor paint
imperfections, including some small runs, all of which have been
photographed.
The chrome work presents well and, together with the
whitewall tyres, gives the car a particularly eye-catching
appearance.
Inside, the interior remains smart
and usable, with no significant damage to the upholstery, only some light heat
cracking to the dashboard consistent with a classic of this
age.
Part of a small private collection, the Minx
has always been stored indoors during our vendor's ownership and was recently
featured in a music video. It has run and driven on site as expected, with
nothing of note to report.
Rarely encountered at
auction, this Arrow-generation Minx represents an excellent opportunity to
acquire a charming and increasingly uncommon 1960s British saloon at an
accessible price, ready to be enjoyed for the remainder of the
summer.
