Here we have a fantastically handsome 1924
Rover 14HP Tourer, powered by its 2,297cc petrol engine and finished in an
attractive maroon and black colour scheme that perfectly complements its elegant
vintage styling.
This charming Rover has been cherished by its
current owner for an extraordinary 60 years, having been acquired in 1966 from
the executors of an estate after being discovered tucked away in a garage during
a house clearance. Following its purchase, the car was restored to full working
order and went on to enjoy an active life, including service as a wedding car
throughout the 1970s.
Adding further to its delightful history, the
Rover became a familiar sight in the Halesowen area each Christmas, transporting
"Uncle Holly" (Father Christmas's assistant) as he distributed gift parcels to
local children visiting the Co-op department store.
Showing 36,241 miles, this
much-loved Rover has clearly benefited from careful ownership and ongoing
maintenance throughout the vendor's lengthy custodianship. The modern V5C
records just one former keeper, reflecting the remarkable continuity of
ownership enjoyed by the car over the last six decades.
The history file includes the V5C
registration document, two previous MOT certificates, a collection of period
photographs and a selection of invoices dating from 1967 through to 1970. A new
battery was fitted in July 2026.
As can be seen in the accompanying photographs
and video, the Rover starts readily and was driven around the site during
cataloguing, demonstrating that it remains a usable and enjoyable vintage motor
car. Its handsome appearance, mellow character and evident long-term care make
it an enticing proposition for vintage motoring enthusiasts.
With fascinating provenance, an
engaging local history, remarkable 60-year ownership and an eminently usable
nature, this attractive Rover 14HP Tourer represents a rare opportunity to
acquire a genuine vintage motor car that has been loved, cherished and enjoyed
for generations.
A wonderfully characterful and highly
presentable pre-war tourer, equally suited to rallies, shows, wedding work or
simply enjoying the pleasures of vintage
motoring.
