1989 MERCEDES-BENZ 190D
2.5 DIESEL; One Owner from New; 152,000 Miles currently showing on the
speedometer Barolo Red; 5-Speed Manual: Long MOT; approximately £3,000 recently
spent on a comprehensive engine service; driven to site over 65
miles
A well-preserved example of
Mercedes-Benz's much-loved W201 190D, this 1989 2.5-litre diesel has remained
with the same owner from new for an impressive 37
years.
Finished in the particularly
rare factory Mercedes-Benz Barolo Red, the car presents in good cosmetic
condition for its age, with the vendor reporting original, rust-free jacking
points and sills.
The car has covered
approximately 152,000 miles and comes with an unusually comprehensive history.
This includes the original delivery note from the day it was purchased, the
original service book, extensive invoices and both Mercedes-Benz main dealer and
specialist service history. Four original keys are also
included.
Considerable expenditure has
recently been invested in preventative maintenance and mechanical
recommissioning, with approximately £3,000 recently spent on a comprehensive
engine service. Work includes refurbishment of all five fuel injectors, a
genuine Mercedes-Benz water pump, new radiator and engine mounts, manifold
gaskets, suspension mounts and springs, together with renewal of various
engine-bay rubber hoses.
The fuel pump has also been
serviced, including replacement of the gaskets and seals, addressing a known
area of concern on these cars. Further work has been carried out to the exhaust
manifold.
The vendor reports that the
190D starts and drives as expected, with everything working as it should. It has
also benefited from a long history of MOT tests, with the vendor reporting
decades of largely advisory-free MOTs.
A well documented example of
Mercedes-Benz's legendary W201, combining one-owner provenance, a rare factory
colour, extensive Mercedes-Benz service history and significant recent
preventative maintenance. An increasingly desirable modern classic and a
particularly interesting example for the Mercedes-Benz enthusiast or
collector.
