Purchased by our vendor as a non runner in 2024; engine now
reconditioned and radiator replaced; now runs and drives; seems to
have had only three recorded keepers since new
An
interesting and highly original example of Alvis's 12/50, fitted from new with
the factory's own four-door Atlantic saloon coachwork.
'VR 859' was purchased new by William Donnet and retains its original
factory guarantee. It was subsequently acquired by Alvis Register stalwart John
Burnell on 6th March 1963 for the sum of £20, remaining with him for many years.
The accompanying history file contains numerous old MoT certificates, tax discs
and petrol coupons, together with a wiring diagram, copy handbook and a
selection of photographs documenting the car from the 1960s.
The car remains notably original, retaining its original interior
complete with the unusual Ladies and Gents companion sets and
trunk.
Purchased by our vendor from Bonhams at
the Goodwood Members' Meeting in 2024, where it was offered as a non-runner. The
car has since undergone some recommissioning including the fitting of a new
radiator. It now runs and drives, although further recommissioning would be
advisable before extensive use. The vendor had intended to prepare the car for
VSCC events, but work commitments have prevented the project from progressing
further.
A particularly appealing opportunity to
acquire a well-documented and unusually original 12/50 with factory-built
Atlantic saloon coachwork and fascinating long-term history.
