1962 Chrysler Valiant Automatic; 23
old MOT; car has been driven over 30 miles: The odometer currently displays
7,777 miles, although the mileage is thought more likely to be 107,777 miles and
cannot be verified; An exceptionally rare car in the UK, with reportedly only
one other example believed to exist in the
country.
An interesting example of
Chrysler’s distinctive early-1960s compact saloon, the Valiant offered American
styling in a more practical package than the larger cars of the period. This
Australian-market example is powered by a 3,686cc petrol engine paired with an
automatic transmission and is finished in white with a red and grey leatherette
interior.
Imported from Australia in
2001, the Valiant has remained in the same ownership since November of that
year, making it a particularly appealing long-term ownership proposition.
November 2001 is also recorded as its first UK registration
date.
The accompanying history
includes 23 old MOT certificates, correspondence, invoices and a collection of
Valiant-related books. The odometer currently displays 7,777 miles, although the
mileage is thought more likely to be 107,777 miles and cannot be
verified.
Now MOT and road tax exempt,
the car has been driven over 30 miles to the sale. It was driving and stopping
while on site for photography and a short video. Having been standing for a
little while, the battery will require replacement; however, the vendor reports
that the car runs and drives well when jump-started.
An unusual and
characterful Australian-imported American classic, offered with long-term single
ownership, useful supporting history and an appealing period colour
combination.
