The 2017 sale totalled £249,350, with the top 10 yearlings averaging nearly £16,000.
There was a very welcomed feel good factor at the 54th Brightwells Autumn Cob Sale where the returns showed very encouraging averages over the three days. A total of 432 animals were forward with 359 selling to average £1062 with a clearance of 83%.
With the carpark filled to capacity, interest in the eclectic mix of vehicles was strong, with nearly £1.4m changing hands by the end of the day.
With Storm Brian howling around Hereford Market and pouring with rain, Brightwells report a good attendance at the sale last Saturday for the Joint Production Sale of Pedigree Charollais Females with furious bidding and many telephone bids.

The 64th Fayre Oaks provided encouragement for the Welsh breeds, as not only were sale averages up on the year, but also the percentage sold showed a healthy increase. Overall a clearance of 80% was achieved - up from 73% last year - with both ‘day sale’ averages also showing improvement on the year. There was continued interest from overseas with 55 ponies finding new homes abroad.
Bulls and Females both sell to a top of £5,500 and Record Average for Show Heifers at Hereford Livestock Market conducted by the Society’s Official Auctioneers Brightwells.
The herd was well presented and comprised a bunch of honest working sorts. Top price of £3045 was paid for the second calving Ashley Moor 1 Amethyst 25th sold with her heifer calf.
Trade was brisk at Brightwells on 27th September as a vast crowd of bidders descended on the Leominster sales venue to see over 190 classic cars and motorcycles come under the auctioneer’s hammer.
A collection of over 200 bottles of rare malt whisky formed the centrepiece of Brightwells’ recent auction of Fine Wine, Port, Champagne and Whisky which took place on Wednesday 6th September.
