1989 Mercedes-Benz 560SEC
Three owner face-lift coupe from 26 year ownership in good order with typically exuberant period spec
Supplied new to its first owner, Nesbitt Plant Hire company in Newcastle in August 1989 by Cragside Mercedes the car is finished in attractive Nautic Blue with matching dark blue leather interior with Burr Walnut trim. As a top of the range, phase II facelift model, it boasted the most powerful engine option, a 5.5-litre V8 which developed around 300bhp driven through 4-speed automatic transmission.
This fine car has been with our vendor since 1994, some 26 years and looks to have been used extensively by him from purchase until the mid 2000's when the use became more relaxed. A look at the MOT history shows the car has covered less than 2,000 miles between 2012 and today remaining in storage for much of that time as part of his private collection.
The vehicle's history file includes the V5C, old style V5, owner's manuals and service book recording an impressive 21 stamps including PDI all by Mercedes main dealers, the last stamp was in May 2000 by MB of Reading at 136,227 miles. There are also an additional couple of stamps for a brake fluid change and coolant change also by MB in January 1999 at 127,262 miles.
A tome of invoices records regular maintenance during the peak of its useage from the early 90's to the mid 2000s, there are far too many to detail but highlights include £1,564 spent on electrical works (new crank sensor, fuel pump re-wire, fuel pump relay, new dizzy etc) in November 2010 by Merc Spec of Middlesborough and £1,097 spent on a major service at 156,789 miles in May 2009 including a new radiator, rocker gaskets and handbrake cable. A £1,012 spend on bodywork repairs in 2001 included repairs to both front wings and both rear arches.
Coming with a clean MOT without advisories until August 2021 there's little not to like, it may have covered 160,000 miles but that's nothing for one of these big lazy V8's - give it the use it deserves and travel in style with space, pace and grace in a quality motorcar especially when offered as it is here at No Reserve.
