Description
1961 Rover P4 100
Good example driven 50
miles to the sale; manual 'box with O/D and heater
Dating from
December 1961 this old Rover P4 100 is finished in two-tone and
although not perfect cosmetically, it is an entirely usable example driven some
50 miles to the sale and comes with a current MOT valid until April 2022 with
just one advisory for a slight weep from the steering box - impressive for a 60
year old car.
Featuring the torquey 2.6 litre straight six IOE engine
giving enough performance to hit 100mph, more than ample for its day and
features manual transmission with overdrive, Girling servo-assisted front disc
brakes with drums on the back to help slow the car down. Inside we
find leather interior with wood trim, heater and enough space to take
the family away on vacation.
Within the history file we find the current
V5 revealing our vendor to have owned the car since September 2019 enjoying it
regularly around the Forest of Dean and beyond, old style log book dated April
1999 suggesting the original owner kept the car from 1961 to 1978 and file
of invoices showing regular maintenance and parts purchase dating back to the
early/mid 80s and selection of 11 old MOTs dating back to 1983. In addition
the file also includes a brace of workshop manuals for the P4.
A good,
usable example with scope for some minor cosmetic improvement. Use and improve,
or simply use and enjoy - a good P4 is a treat to drive with a wealth of
knowledge out there, huge parts availability and an active club and enthusiast
scene.
**Bidders please note, the car was driven to us and
moved around but now will not start, with just a loud click on trying to start
so will need to be collected by trailer/haulier.**
