1932 Austin 7 RP De-Luxe
Saloon
A very smart example; fresh professional repaint;
lovely interior; for light recommissioning after a couple of years off the
road
The Austin RP saloon embodied a number of important
improvements over the outgoing RN. Principal of these were the addition of a
rear petrol tank, which also meant an engine-driven petrol pump was required. On
the inside, the RP is easily distinguised from earlier models by the new dash
layout, with the instruments grouped in a panel behind the steering
wheel.
This very smart example has been with our vendor since the early
1970s and has been restored to near concours condition by the experienced Austin
Seven owner/enthusiast. There are no modifications, although it carries a spare
wheel cover and handly luggage carrier at the rear. It has been rewired with
armoured cable and sits on five matching Dunlop tyres.
Within the last
year or two, it has undergone a full wings off, doors off, sliding roof out bare
metal respray in two-pack green and black paint, leaving a beautiful quality
finish. This is reputed to have cost £3,500. Last running a couple of years ago,
there are a few jobs to finish such as headlight wiring and sorting the charging
circuit to finish the car off completely, but little more than a fresh
battery and a few weekend's work we understand.
