1977 TVR 3000M Taimar
Original Earls Court
Motorshow car; stunning order; in the same private TVR collection
since 1999; blueprinted engine with triple Weber carbs; recently
serviced
Originally registered EBV 166S, this
Taimar has also been seen as TVR 426S but is now back on its original
number.
It was first put on the road in November 1977 with the desirable
triple carburettor modification and blue printed engine.
We believe that it was used in its early days at the Earls Court
show and although there is no concrete evidence of this, it is definitely
recorded as being owned by TVR as a demonstrator from 1977 to 1983 so it is very
likely. It was also featured in Autocar in December 1977, although at the time
of writing, we have not been able to find a copy. A well documented car by the
register and club, it has six other owners before our vendor purchased it in
1999.
It seems to have been maintained
thoroughly over the years, most of which is recorded in the file of paperwork.
Most importantly, the chassis was restored in 1997, along with £2,300 spent
on other parts including new leather seats, carpets, front bumpers, renewed
suspension, stainless steel exhaust, new lighting, pumps and belts
etc.
Soon after this, it found its way to our
vendor, a keen TVR enthusiast and collector, so it has been in good company,
alongside several of its TVR cousins.
During
this 23 year ownership, it has been regularly maintained and put though MOTs
including the most recent at 90,000 miles with no advisories that expires in May
next year. He has covered very few miles sinceacquisition but has looked
after it carefully. Most recently there has been a full service done by TTP
Performance.
A rare opportunity to acquire an
iconic late '70s classic and also a chance to do a good deed as the main reason
for selling is to contribute some finances to help a friend of the vendor who is
currently suffering from motor neurone disease so get bidding and do what makes
sense…
