2002 Porsche 911 Carrera 2 (996)
Facelift example with pokier 3.6 engine mated to 6-speed manual 'box; appealing non-sunroof example with considerable history including recent , dual mass flywheel and front calliper upgrade
Supplied new by H.R Owen of Hatfield this face-lift 996 generation of 911 comes to us in desirable Carrera 2 guise and is finished in Meridian Silver and sits upon 18” staggered fitment Carrera Sport five-spoke alloy wheels shod in Michelin pilot 4 tyres.
Slung out back, we find the later 3.6 litre flat-six engine which develops 316Bhp and drives the rear wheels here via six-speed manual transmission.
Inside the cosy cabin, we find black leather seats with electric adjustment, electric windows, electric mirrors, rear wiper, PSM (Porsche stability management), Porsche CDR33 radio/CD player, auto dimming rear mirror and rain sensor. Unusually, this car does not have a sunroof which some prefer, making the shell even more rigid and ideal for turning into a track or competition car perhaps?
This 996 has covered 107,147 miles with the supporting history file including the V5C revealing six former keepers to the current of 5.5 years, the owner’s pack and service book recording 16 stamps, the last in February 2018 at 86,055 miles by Loe bank Motors, Porsche specialists of Bury. The service book also contains a further four stamps for brake fluid changes, four for Long life condition report and three for air bag checks.
We also find a selection of invoices including recent expenditure in January 2021 at 105,375 miles costing £298 for a routine service, a new battery in October 2021, new clutch, dual mass flywheel and service with IMS inspection in January 2020 at 103,324 miles costing £2,339, fitment of a Dansk rear Sports exhaust in December 2018 costing £1,439 and most recently, in March 2022 £1,800 was spent on a minor service and replacement of the front brake discs and pads and replacement front callipers to Boxster S spec (an improvement).
The car comes with a current MOT valid until March 2023 which recorded five minor advisories (enter the reg at check-mot.service.gov.uk) and is ready to be enjoyed – manual 996 generation 911’s, particularly in driver focused Carrera 2 guise are becoming harder to find and as such values have risen in line with demand.
