1967 Triumph Vitesse 2-Litre
One of the earliest 2-litre Vitesse' from long-term 16-year enthusiast owner; wonderfully unmolested throughout
This rather delightful Triumph Vitesse 2-litre is, we believe (as does the vendor), possibly the earliest 2-litre fixed head Vitesse still on the road.
It was built in November 1966 (the 2-Litre model was introduced in September 1966) and has been with our enthusiast owner for the last 16 years during which time he has pursued originality and spent money where required including on a standard stainless steel exhaust, period correct radio, spot lamps and Smiths heated rear screen.
The car looks to have covered approximately 78,000 miles from new, believed genuine and while a replacement speedo has been fitted, the original is in the boot along with a selection of useful spares and other boxed new parts worth a small fortune no doubt.
The car is finished in Royal Blue and features matching Matador Blue interior and was partially restored in 2014 with a bare metal strip down which included fitment of new sills and covers and repainted. The underside and cavities were treated with Dynatrol and wax oil for long lasting protection at this time.
The history file includes the V5C, green log-book and DVLA ownership history which reveals one London based chap to have owned the car from 1970 until 1998 when it was passed to his nephew who kept the car until 2005 after which our vendor bought the car from a dealer, enjoying it ever since. The file also includes a ream of bills for work undertaken and parts purchased, an owner's handbook, an SAH tuning manual, six old MOTs, the original tool kit and NEC Classic Car show bits from when the car was exhibited and enjoyed by many passing by.
A lvery smart example that has been cherished and driven to the sale, our vendor is reluctant to part with his old friend but lack of use over the last two years means its time to go - an early 2-Litre Vitesse that can be driven away to enjoy.
