Description
Japanese take on the 2CV & Renault 4 concept from the late
80s; simple, no frills motoring with a 1.0 litre automatic under the
bonnet
Dating from July 1989 this rather natty
Nissan Pao harks back to simpler times, taking its inspiration from the Renault
4 and Citroen 2CV with one journo suggesting the Pao was “the height of Post
Modernism” at the time.
Certainly retro, the
car still looks ever so cool with its exposed hinges and simple, boxy design
with minimalist interior, particularly finished in Ivory both inside and out as
we see here.
Under the bonnet, we find the 1.0
(987cc) litre MA10S four-cylinder petrol engine with single carb which develops
51bhp and 75NM of torque driving the front wheels via three-speed automatic
transmission.
Inside the cabin, we find manual
front windows, air conditioning, heated rear screen and Sony radio/CD
player. The car shows 188,452 KM
which is likely a mix of KM and then miles after import.
The car presents well, although does show some minor, localised
blistering as pictured but holds up well considering its age and mileage,
starting promptly and moving around with verve for these images and
video.
The history file includes the V5C
recording five former UK owners to our vendor who has enjoyed the car since
October 2021. The V5C also shows the car was imported and registered in the UK
in May 2007. In addition, the file
also includes two old V5C’s, nine old MOTs, a selection of bills for works
undertaken and parts bought plus the current MOT, valid until October 2023
recording five minor advisories.
Recent works
of note documented on file include a £649 spend in October 2022 on welding to
the OSF floor area, replacement OS outer CV boot, replacement fog light and
wiring and fitment of a reconditioned steering rack. Furthermore, £533 was spent prior to
this on purchase of the reconditioned steering rack, track rod end and
associated bushes and hoses.
We also fine record of a service dated
July 2019 at 180,884Km costing £545 along with older service bills and the
original Export Certificate from Hyogo, Japan dated 2006.
Buyers please note, one of the polished wheel trims flew off on the
vendor’s way to us so there is one missing. He has kindly sent us a replacement set
of four after-market hub caps for the new owner to fit as they
wish.
