Description
Loads of history; just three former keepers, one from 1969 - 1995; a
very nicely presented Daimler
First registered on 14th November 1966
to a gentleman from Cornwall, it was sold through Riders Garage to Mr Rosser in
July 1969 for £1,200 who was to retain the car for the next 26 years. According
to the bill of sale, he part-exchanged his Jowett Javelin with an allowance of
£85.....
According to an amazingly comprehensive record of
every journey on file, it had covered 23,585 miles when he bought it and the
odometer had just hopped over the 102,700 mark when he passed it on in 1995.
Every bit of maintenance was recorded, along with the petrol used and its
cost....he even recorded the charging rate and battery condition - an
extraordinary level of detail and testament to its careful ownership. Bills on
file show it had a comprehensive engine rebuild in 1992.
The current V5C
shows four previous keepers and the current MOT which expires in October 2023
shows just under 22,000 miles....making 122,000 miles from new.
Painted
Golden Sand, the bodywork had a bare metal repaint by Newnham body
repairs in 2002 including repairs to the bottom of the doors, crows-feet
and wing sections costing £4,250.
The file includes a handbook and
lubrication chart, a service book and warranty book (although these look to come
from a later car) and lots of interesting bills etc.
It remains in
very presentable order and has clearly had much attention lavished on it over
the years. If one of these charismatic V8s is on your radar, this is well worth
a good look.
