Description
Just two owners from new, the current for 18 years; beautifully
restored to Cooper S spec with 1275cc engine and many new old
stock BMC parts; Newton Commercial interior
Dating from April 1962, this rather wonderful Morris Mini-Minor
De-Luxe was supplied new via W. Lawrence, Victory Garage of Hereford,
Austin and Morris agents. It has had just two owners since, our vendor acquiring
it in 2005.
It has been comprehensively
restored during the last few years with a host of upgrades including a complete
strip to bare metal and re-paint in Island Blue with Old English White roof. It
is fitted with a 1275cc engine from an MG 1300 the vendor had, along
with many new old stock BMC Cooper parts our man had collected over the
years to create this wonderful ‘homage’ to the period Cooper
S.
The interior has been treated to a complete
re-trim courtesy of Newton Commercial Interiors plus NOS horn push and new
130mph speedo. The low mileage 1300 engine was rebuilt with an unleaded head and
new ancillaries replacing the original 850cc unit. A new battery, wheels and
tyres were also fitted along with a new exhaust system which sounds lovely.
Since
completion the car has covered but a couple of miles, remaining indoors on show
as an ornament. The car wants for nothing and would sit well in any
collection.
The history file includes the V5C
showing just one former keeper, the original purchase invoice from 31st March
1962 for £589, the original warranty sheet, six old MOTs dating back to Yr.2000
at 15,111 miles, an old style V5 and selection of photos of the car prior to its
restoration.
An unrepeatable opportunity to
acquire this gem of a Mini with its appealing upgrades and interesting
history.
