stainless steel exhaust; Mota-Lita steering wheel; a driver quality example,
ready to enjoy
First registered in October 1969, this UK market
E-Type Series 2 2+2 has had 7 former keepers according to the V5C, all recorded
in documents on file, and has been in the current ownership since 2007. It comes
with a good file of history extending back to the early 1990s which is when the
car appears to have been restored by a previous owner, the engine being rebuilt
at that time and the colour changed from red to Old English White, judging by
photos on file.
Our vendor acquired the car from Jaguar specialist
John Seddon of Ivydene Garage, Betley in July 2007, Ivydene treating it to
a major service and cosmetic spruce-up at the time of purchase which
cost £12,250. They also fitted a Bell stainless steel exhaust system in 2008.
Ivydene continued to look after the car for the next dozen years, with
plenty of invoices for regular upkeep and servicing.
Since 2020 the car
has been looked after by AWJ Automotive of Newcastle-under-Lyme, bills on file
for this period amounting to some £5,300. Apart from regular service items, this
has included a suspension overhaul with various new bushes and Koni front shock
absorbers; new track rod ends; new engine and steering rack mountings; all new
coolant hoses; carbs stripped, ultrasonically cleaned and rebuilt; fresh gearbox
oil etc. It has had a major service within the last 300 miles and all
the tyres have around 6.5mm of tread.
Old MOTs show that the car has
covered around 4,600 miles in the current 16-year ownership, the vendor telling
us that it has always been kept garaged and has been mainly used for local shows
and Jaguar Enthusiast Club events. He states that: “The car drives great, the
engine runs very well and stays cool. It has never had any starting issues, oil
pressure issues or over-heating and has been a great car to own and enjoy. It
has only done about 200 miles in the last two years so I have decided the time
has come to pass it on to someone else”.
As you can see in the photos,
the E-Type looks very sound and presentable with a pleasingly original
leather interior and good brightwork, although there are a few minor paint
blemishes here and there (a tin of Old English White touch-up paint comes with
the car). Starting promptly and running sweetly as we have moved it around on
site, with good 40psi oil pressure, it is ready for a new owner to enjoy right
away.
